Safeguarding
Safeguarding at YPR
Safeguarding and welfare are extremely important to us. We want every child, family member and carer to feel listened to, and safe to talk about any part of their lives.
If a child is in immediate danger
Call 999.
Children and young people can talk to Childline free on 0800 1111. Adults worried about a child can call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.
Raise a concern with YPR
If you are worried about a young person we support, about something you have seen at our hub or on a journey with us, or about the behaviour of anyone who works for YPR, tell us straight away.
Email info@yprelate.org with "Safeguarding" in the subject, or call 0208 691 7485, and ask for our safeguarding lead.
Please give your name and how to reach you, and we will call you back. You do not need to have all the facts.
Our commitment
Children first
We support young people of all cultures, faiths and abilities, and promote a climate in which everyone feels safe and secure.
Safer recruitment
Our keyworker roles require an Enhanced DBS check before starting, and every role comes with training.
Working together
We keep open, honest communication with parents, carers, social workers and specialists, and share concerns with the right council team.
Training for our transport and escort staff covers safeguarding, SEN awareness and basic first aid. Staff follow safeguarding procedures and report any concern promptly.
Policies for councils
Council staff who work with us can read our policies and service documents in the council portal. New to the portal? Request access.
For professionals
To refer a young person or family, use our referral enquiry form. It never asks for a child's details: we take those by phone.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do if a child is in immediate danger?
Call 999. Do not wait to contact YPR first.
I am worried about a child but it is not an emergency. Who do I tell?
Contact the children's social care team of the council where the child lives. GOV.UK can find the right council for you. If the child is someone YPR works with, please tell us as well.
What if my concern is about someone who works for YPR?
Tell our safeguarding lead using the details on this page. Concerns that an adult who works with children may have harmed a child are also referred to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) of the council concerned.
Can I make a complaint about YPR?
Yes. Email info@yprelate.org with "Complaint" in the subject and tell us what happened. A concern about a child's safety is always treated as a safeguarding matter first.
Need to talk to us?
